Barnardo's is one of the leading children's charities in the UK and we are urgently seeking carers in the North East to provide:

Temporary and short-term fostering

For all types of children and in particular sibling groups, teenagers, parent and child placements, black and minority ethnic children, children who are sexually exploited and those with challenging behaviours. As a fostering and adoption agency we help local authorities place children who might otherwise not find permanent families.

We welcome all applications. You can be married, single, divorced, any sexuality, cohabiting, with or without children, from all ethnic groups and religions, employed or unemployed - we assess all applications on merit. We offer generous financial assistance and excellent training and support. Join a team with 30 years' experience.

We believe that every child has a right to family life and Barnardo's has a successful history of placing children in new families.

We offer adoption, long term and permanent fostering, short term and emergency fostering and Short Break Care. We also offer specialist fostering services including placements for children who are sexually exploited and trafficked, children and young people on Remand and children requiring therapeutic placements.. As a fostering and adoption agency we help local authorities place children who might otherwise not find permanent families. As a Barnardo’s foster carer you can expect a comprehensive training and support package to ensure your placement is successful for you and the child. You will also receive guidance throughout the process of becoming a foster carer and a fostering allowance to cover the cost of child care.

There’s no such thing as a typical foster carer – they are a diverse group of people who come from many different backgrounds. They do however all have one thing in – the ability to provide a safe, loving, stable home environment to help a child grow and develop.
